Since short time the Zoo Hof has a new member – Friedrich.

Friedrich is a african spurred tortoise, which escaped his original family, spent one night at the police in the drunk tank and now has a new home in the Zoo Hof. But Friedrich needs now also a new “accomodation”!

Right now Friedrich still lives in a temporary enclosure.The tortoise is now about 50 cm long and 12 years young and can become up to 100 years old and reach a size of about 100 cm, as he belongs to one of the largest land tortoise. But he still needs a fitting home as he loves the tropical warm (upt to 40°C) and dry climate, which Hof can not offer. Therefore a new house needs to be built, which has the original climate of the Sahelzone in Africa.

Besides this has the Zoo Hof richt now not only Baby Meerkats to offer, but also little Nasuas, dwarf mongoose and swines. Any plans for the weekend? 😉
